Requirements

  • Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
  • Possess a TSA Issued TWIC.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet preferred.
  • Have access control and/or badge experience preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service by carrying out site-specific access control procedures, visitor screening protocols, credential verification, and/or security-related response activities appropriate to a utilities location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and authorization for employees, contractors, and visitors, and help to deter unauthorized access to restricted and operational areas.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and unusual activity in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate with site contacts and/or emergency personnel as needed.
  • Document visitor activity, access-related incidents, and daily observations in required logs and reports while following post orders and established site policies.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter, observing for access control issues, unsecured entry points, and other security-related concerns.
