As an Access Control Officer in a government location, you will monitor entry points, verify credentials, manage badges, and help to deter security-related incidents through a visible presence and strong communication. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • A DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccinations are required in accordance with COLA requirements.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized personnel by carrying out site-specific procedures, access protocols, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and/or identification, and help to deter unauthorized access to restricted areas in accordance with post orders and facility policies.
  • Screen visitors, vendors, and deliveries, maintain required access logs and/or incident documentation, and communicate security-related concerns to site leadership in a calm, professional manner.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations with a problem-solving approach, following established reporting procedures and supporting appropriate emergency actions when needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around assigned buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas to observe conditions, report unusual activity, and support security-related operations.
