As a Security Officer Armed Patrol Examiner in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Cultural Institutions, and more. Our armed officer at a cultural institution will monitor and patrol assigned areas, remain visible to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment for guests, staff, and visitors. Requirements

  • A valid New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • A valid Armed Guard Card or License is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a cultural institution location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including documenting observations and communicating with local authorities when needed.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols throughout buildings, entry points, gathering spaces, and perimeter areas to help to deter unwanted activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify credentials when required, and report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and/or maintenance concerns to site leadership.
  • Support special events, services, and high-attendance periods by managing foot traffic, helping with orderly access control, and maintaining a visible armed presence consistent with post instructions.
