About The Position

As a Security Officer Access Screening in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Aero/Defense, and more. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
  • A Guard Card and/or license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and contractors by following site-specific access control procedures, credential verification steps, and security-related policies at an aerospace and defense location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and authorization, and help to deter unauthorized access to restricted areas, facilities, and sensitive workspaces.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate with site contacts, first responders, and/or Allied Universal leadership as needed.
  • Maintain accurate access logs, visitor records, and incident documentation, and report unusual activity, policy violations, and/or security-related concerns according to post orders.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter, observing for unauthorized activity, unsecured access points, and conditions that may require follow-up or escalation.
