About The Position

This position assists in providing security and protection for students, staff, and property at an assigned site. The Security Monitor gathers information to resolve security issues, determines appropriate responses, conveys information, and provides written support. The role involves observing and monitoring various areas of the school, patrolling school grounds, enforcing rules, checking identification, and coordinating with law enforcement when necessary. Building rapport with students to encourage respectful behavior is also a key aspect of the role.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and public; good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
Ability to work extra duty events when needed
Successfully pass agility test for security staff
Successful completion of security training program prior to the end of probationary period

Responsibilities

Assist campus security officer in the performance of their duties
Report problems to campus security officer
Observe and monitor student lunch areas, bus areas, restrooms and student/faculty parking lots
Patrol hallways, entrances, parking lots, and school perimeters
Enforce school rules and policies
Check identification and monitor visitor access
Secure entrances and exits during school hours
Coordinate with local police or school resource officers as needed
Build rapport with students to encourage respectful behavior
Maintain detailed logs of daily activities, incidents, and observations
Complete incident reports when necessary
Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
