The Marathon Galveston Bay Refinery (GBR) has an opening for a Security Manager to lead the Security Department. The individual will be responsible for supervising union, salaried and contract security personnel, overseeing site-wide security programs and plans, regulatory compliance, investigative activities, and workplace violence prevention policies. The role will support and ensure the protection of refinery operations through the development, implementation, and monitoring of security strategies, risk assessments, and response plans, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and industry regulations.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, security, or related discipline is required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
  • Ten (10) or more years of law enforcement, military, or security-related field is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Detailed knowledge and experience implementing NIMS Incident Command System (able to train/fill/advise multiple positions) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes security and protection strategies, priorities, and critical tasks including procedures, training, equipment, visitor and access controls, contractor vetting, security and emergency communications and information sharing.
  • Continuously monitors effectiveness of security plans and operations for improvements.
  • Oversees policies, including workplace violence prevention policies, standards, guidelines and procedures engaging business unit management to ensure concerns are adequately addressed.
  • Directs training programs to maintain compliance with U.S. Federal and state regulations and company standards.
  • Gathers and assesses information related to potential security threats and develops appropriate preventive strategies within area of assignment.
  • Leads investigative teams, conducts complex Code of Conduct investigations, and prepares for legal proceedings to which the company may be a party.
  • Leads ongoing risk assessments, criminal investigations, and on-site audits to identify exposures, threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Identifies likelihood and consequence of such events.
  • Formulates and institutes risk mitigation measures ensuring compliance with governmental regulations for petroleum, maritime, and transportation industries.
  • Coordinates efforts with internal and external resources to ensure restoration of critical systems and the proper support to all parties in the event of a security related event.
  • Serves as a recognized expert in the security regulatory compliance programs within area of assignment and coordinates with local law enforcement.
  • Manages site drone resources in support of security and refinery needs.
