About The Position

Reporting to the National Security Officer, the Security Manager is responsible for overseeing project security requirements, ensuring compliance with the Contract Security Program (CSP), and maintaining the project's Security Implementation Plan. This role provides leadership to the project security team, coordinates with DND and DCC representatives, manages security incidents and investigations, and supports the protection of sensitive information, assets, and personnel throughout the project lifecycle. This position requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance. This role will be based out of our Ottawa office.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a security coordination, security administration, or security management role, preferably supporting government, defence, infrastructure, or other high-security projects.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining Security Implementation Plans, security procedures, and compliance programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) Contract Security Program (CSP) requirements, including personnel screening and safeguarding of information.
  • Experience investigating, documenting, and reporting security incidents, breaches, and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of document safeguarding, secure media handling, and information protection requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must possess, or be eligible to obtain and maintain, a Government of Canada security clearance.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver security awareness training and chair stakeholder meetings.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset.
  • Experience coordinating with government stakeholders and security authorities, including DND, DCC, PSPC, or similar organizations, is considered an asset.
  • Experience leading security personnel and managing project security requirements.
  • Holding a recognized ASIS certification, such as Physical Security Professional (PSP) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP), is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Chair bi-weekly security meetings
  • Maintain, implement and update the project Security Implementation Plan
  • Direct the overall management of the security team and manage project security requirements
  • Coordinate with the DND and DCC security representatives on matters relating to security
  • Investigate and report all incidences and breaches
  • Hold periodic security awareness training sessions
  • Ensure compliance with the Contract Security Program (CSP)
  • Oversee the onsite DSC and IT Media requirements for the project
