About The Position

As a Security Guard – Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccinations are required.
  • A minimum of 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized personnel by following site-specific access control procedures and security-related policies at a government location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and/or credentials, process visitor access, and document arrivals, departures, and restricted area activity.
  • Respond to incidents, unusual activity, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate with site contacts and/or emergency responders as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, including entrances, perimeters, and common spaces, to help to deter unauthorized access and report security-related concerns.
  • Operate access control and communication systems, maintain required logs and reports, and support orderly movement of people and property throughout the location.
