About The Position
The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking Non-Sworn/Telecommunicator/Detention Officers for the 2026 NC Mountain State Fair. The fair runs from Friday, September 11, 2026, to Sunday, September 20, 2026. This is an opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with people in a fast-paced environment and want to be part of a team to ensure a safe and fun event. The Fair is located at the Davis Event Center - 765 Boylston Hwy, Fletcher, NC 28732.
Requirements
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of standard safety, surveillance, and security practices and equipment.
- Ability to complete emergency medical technician (EMT) training and meet re-certification standards as required.
Responsibilities
- Patrol, monitor, and guard assigned area.
- Respond quickly and properly in emergency situations.
- Interact with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public to provide assistance and relay information.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
