Requirements

Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
Valid First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain before employment).
Minimum 1 year of previous security experience is required.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills.
Professional, approachable, and confident when interacting with the public.
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Basic computer and smartphone skills for report writing and communication.
Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods (8–12-hour shifts).
Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping periods.

Nice To Haves

Experience in mall, shopping center, retail, commercial, or customer service-focused security is highly preferred.
Use of Force Certificate
Strong conflict resolution, de-escalation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular foot patrols throughout the shopping center, including common areas, parking lots, food courts, and exterior grounds.
Maintain a highly visible security presence to help deter theft, vandalism, and other unwanted activity.
Monitor entrances, exits, and high-traffic areas to promote a safe environment for shoppers, tenants, and staff.
Identify and report safety hazards, suspicious activity, and security concerns.
Deliver exceptional customer service while providing a welcoming and professional security presence.
Assist shoppers, tenants, and visitors with directions, general inquiries, and other requests.
Build positive relationships with retailers, mall management, and members of the public.
Resolve concerns professionally using strong communication and conflict de-escalation skills.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies, alarms, disturbances, and security incidents.
Provide First Aid, CPR, or AED assistance until emergency responders arrive.
Assist with evacuations and emergency procedures when required.
Coordinate with police, fire, EMS, and mall management during emergency situations.
Complete accurate daily activity logs, incident reports, and occurrence reports.
Document observations, incidents, and actions taken in a clear and professional manner.
Communicate important information during shift handovers to ensure operational continuity.
Monitor CCTV systems and respond to suspicious or unusual activity.
Assist with access control for restricted areas and back-of-house operations.
Support special events, crowd management, and holiday traffic as required.
Maintain accountability for company-issued equipment and follow all site policies and procedures.
