About The Position

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the security and safety of people and assets by enforcing established rules and regulations related to theft, vandalism and any other illegal and/or criminal activity. The Security Guard provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group. He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • 1+ year as a security guard or similar position
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License required
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to help create effective customer-focused relationships with all levels within the organization.
  • Intermediate command of computer hardware/software, specifically Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Ability to lift 30lbs. following appropriate safety procedures.
  • Ability to: o work in an upright standing position for long periods of time o crawl in small and tight spaces o work in different environmental working conditions (e.g. heat, cold, wind, rain). o walk and climb stairs o stoop and bend
  • Extensive use of fingers for typing and visual use of the computer monitor.
  • Handle, grasp, feel objects and equipment.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to quickly and easily navigate property/buildings are required to meet the job functions.
  • Repeat various motions with wrists, hands and fingers.
  • Ability to detect auditory and/or visual emergency alarms
  • May be required to perform work outdoors during all seasons
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights above ground level.
  • Ability to hear, understand and respond appropriately to verbal requests made in person and over the telephone.
  • Visual ability correctable to 20/20.
  • Ability to respond verbally in an understandable, professional manner in person and over the telephone.
  • May be required to travel for training sessions off-site
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain access control at gatehouse entry by confirming identification of visitors and ask for permission from authorized party (resident/management).
  • Verify and maintain records of entry by process servers, emergency vehicles, police units, municipal, county, state or federal vehicles and the purpose of their entry.
  • Watch pedestrian traffic and monitor cameras as gate operations allow. Handle gate traffic delays in accordance with established procedures.
  • Understand operating procedures for all situations including, but not limited to floods, damage, vandalism, fire, and medical emergencies.
  • Review community map to understand community layout to be able to direct guests, contractors and emergency vehicles
  • Perform pedestrian or vehicle patrol of assigned area, to include but not be limited to checking doors and windows, checking for debris, trash, damage and suspicious persons or vehicles. Patrols may also involve the use of a guard tour device in which case locations of tour points would be indicated to officer and require they be “hit” a predetermined number of times each shift.
  • Mediating disputes while communicating and enforcing policies, rules and regulations
  • Write or type reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Respond to general alarms, power outages, broken water/power lines and security breaches of any kind in accordance with established post orders; contact police or fire department in case of emergency, such as fire, storm, or crime.
  • Utilize radio/telephone to timely communicate updates or emergencies with others
  • Observe suspicious persons, assess intentions, and act as appropriate including contacting local law enforcement as necessary. At no time is an officer to engage anyone in a physical manner except when the officer’s personal well-being is directly threatened.
  • Observe, recall, and distinguish characteristics of persons, suspects, automobiles, location, property, etc. to include colors, shapes, sizes, height, weight, abnormalities, changes, or differences since last observed, and other distinguishing characteristics
  • Monitoring and operating security systems. Understand how to recall, review and save video footage from CCTV, as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
