Requirements

  • Must be a current MDCPS employee
  • High School Diploma or higher
  • Clear Level II background screening

  • 1–2 years of experience working with children or in a school setting

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations

Responsibilities

  • Patrol school premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, gates, and program areas
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, students, parents, and visitors
  • Maintain visibility during student dismissal and parent pick-up procedures
  • Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances
  • Contact police or fire departments in cases of emergency (fire, medical emergency, unauthorized persons, etc.)
  • Circulate among students, visitors, and staff to preserve order and protect property
  • Follow all school-site safety procedures, including arrival and dismissal protocols
  • Adhere to schedules as assigned by the Site Manager
  • Follow the established chain of command as outlined in the Staff Handbook
  • Participate in weekly team meetings as required
  • Support site staff in maintaining a safe, structured, and positive environment
  • Respond to parent questions and concerns in a professional, calm, and courteous manner
