About The Position

The Oasis at Death Valley is seeking a Security Guard, referred to internally as a Fire Life Safety Officer, to join their team. This role is crucial for ensuring the personal safety of guests, employees, and visitors within the Oasis at Death Valley. The Security Guard will be responsible for surveillance of the premises, protection of staff and visitors, detecting suspicious behavior, and preventing vandalism, theft, and other criminal activities. Additionally, the role involves first responder, firefighting, and transportation duties. This is a full-time, year-round position with a typical schedule of 40 hours per week, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. The position offers a starting pay of $19.35 per hour and has a start date in mid-July.

Requirements

  • Prior security experience or experience in a related field
  • Valid drivers license
  • Previous Security Experience
  • Must possess current driver’s license.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to become proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet, and other computer-based applications.
  • Must be willing to work any combination of days, evenings, and nights as needed.
  • Must possess or can obtain CPR/First Aid and AED certification.
  • Able to follow instructions with follow-up, respect, and integrity.
  • Able to lead and guide staff members with respect and accountability.
  • Able to provide quick and productive solutions to a multitude of challenges and/or limited resources.
  • Able to use sound judgement with assessing team needs that drive immediate results
  • Ability to demonstrate sense urgency around deadlines, guest experience and the Oasis at Death Valley branding.
  • High School Diploma
  • Able to lift 75 lbs. up to shoulder height.
  • Must be able to work outside in extreme conditions.
  • Must be able to walk on varying terrains between 4-6 hours a day.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous First Responder preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform public safety and protective functions while handling emergencies, disturbances and threats to property and life.
  • Maintain a safe and secure living, working, and Park experience for all employees and guests.
  • Patrol buildings and grounds to observe and identify potential safety risks and undesirable conditions, such as fires, theft, and vandalism.
  • Conduct ongoing inspections; thoroughly patrol property during shift to assess levels of safety on location.
  • Observe, report, and document any violations of policies, rules, regulations, and laws governing your location.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to demonstrate professional and courteous behavior with all guests and employees.
