2026 NC State Fair-Non-Sworn Security Guard
About The Position
The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking Non-Sworn Security Officers, Incident Management Team Staff, Telecommunicators and Certified Detention Officers to staff the annual NC State Fair. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, are looking for supplemental income, and value being part of a team to ensure a safe and fun event. The schedule for these positions may run from October 1 through October 31, with the Fair itself taking place from Thursday, October 15 to Sunday, October 25. The Fair is located at 4285 Trinity Road, Raleigh, NC 27607.
Requirements
- Knowledge of standard safety, surveillance, and security practices and equipment.
- Knowledge of standard methods for reporting and handling emergencies.
- Ability to use security equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to complete emergency medical technician (EMT) training and meet re-certification standards as required.

Responsibilities
- Patrol, monitor, and guard assigned areas.
- Report and handle emergencies such as disturbances, fires, medical incidents, and security threats.
- Use security equipment including radios, flashlights, fire extinguishers, surveillance cameras, alarm panels, card access, or other electronic security systems.
- Manage and direct traffic flow.
- Stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Climb stairs.
- Work in inclement weather.
