About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health opened its doors April 2025 as the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 25 years! Integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8, this enhanced integrated delivery system will establish a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. Our advanced hospital will offer 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, onsite 550-car parking garage, and a helipad for emergency transport. We are seeking a Security Guard - SPO (Full-Time, Nights) Our ideal candidate will provide safety and security services, protecting patients, personnel and property by enforcing the laws and policies of the District of Columbia and the Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center. Security Guards will determine appropriate actions during emergency situations, as appropriate.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
Must be at least 21 years of age
U.S. Citizenship is required
Must be able to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Special Police Officer (SPO) commission issued by the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department.
Physical

Be of good moral character
Be able to read, write, and speak the English language
Be certified by a licensed physician as a physically and psychologically fit to perform the duties of a special officer

Nice To Haves

Prior security and/or supervisory experience preferred
Prior law enforcement and military enouraged to apply

Responsibilities

Actively participate in and implement the security management program.
Enforce the laws of the District of Columbia and the policies and procedures of the hospital.
Monitor hospital CCTV system, alarm systems, and communication equipment, dispatching staff as needed.
Implement hospital access control procedures at hospital entrances.
Respond to emergency calls, making initial assessment of situations using tact, diplomacy, and judgement.
Resolve violent and potentially violent situations.
Provide security and protection to hospital patients, visitors, and customers by patrolling areas.
Deter, restrain, and/or arrest individuals attempting to impose physical harm to themselves or others who are posing a threat to the hospital property.
Observe and report faulty and/or unsafe equipment including fire and safety related items.
Complete necessary department forms, reports, and logs.
Perform other job duties/assignments as assigned.
