About The Position

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a Security Guard to provide professional, customer-focused security and life safety services for people and property. The role supports the company’s goal of delivering high-quality security services and maintaining a safe and secure environment. Officers are expected to maintain a professional presence, assist customers and visitors, monitor the assigned facility, and follow site policies and emergency procedures. Essential duties may vary by assigned customer location. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The stated compensation is $17.00 per hour.

Requirements

State- or municipality-mandated security officer licenses.
Minimum high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Must have a security guard license or be able to obtain one within an acceptable period.
Reliable means of communication and transportation.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Neat and professional appearance.
Ability to write routine correspondence, including log entries and incident reports.

Nice To Haves

Previous contract security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience.

Responsibilities

Maintain a professional demeanor and assist customers, employees, visitors, and guests.
Maintain a visible presence in the assigned facility or building.
Monitor the environment for suspicious or unsafe activity.
Become familiar with incoming and outgoing traffic and know customers, tenants, visitors, and guests.
Greet customers, visitors, staff, tenants, and guests professionally.
Answer phones professionally.
Permit authorized persons to enter the property and monitor entrances and exits.
Learn facility or building policies and procedures and enforce them within the limits of the position.
Perform required patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
Observe departing personnel to help protect against theft of company property and ensure property removal is authorized under customer requirements.
Follow established emergency action plans and procedures.
Monitor alarms and systems.
Prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities as directed.
