Security Guard (Guardteck)
About The Position
Guardteck is seeking a Security Guard to maintain compliance with and enforce property standards, rules, and regulations. The role requires the ability to utilize tact and diplomacy, respond to medical emergencies, and enforce access control procedures. A solid understanding of emergency and standard operating procedures is essential, as is the ability to deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons in a fair and safe manner. The Security Guard will maintain a detailed memo book, prepare incident reports, and conduct periodic patrols of the property by foot. Responsibilities include investigating incidents, maintaining the peace, safety, and security of all patrons and clients, monitoring CCTV surveillance systems, and de-escalating emergency/crisis situations. The role also involves assisting emergency and law enforcement personnel, managing access control and line management, providing customer service, and assisting with daily operations as needed.
Requirements
- Must be willing and able to stand, walk, and patrol by foot for extended periods (8-12 hours)
- Valid BC Security license
- Valid OFA 1 certificate
- Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism
- Must have at least 1 year of prior Security experience
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have a strong command and fluency in the English language both written and verbal
- Must be able to take a Proactive approach to all onsite situations
- Must be capable of retaining all relevant information provided by management and designated staff
- Able to take constructive feedback where appropriate
- Must be unafraid to attend highly stressful emergency situations
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment both indoors and outdoors as required.
- Must be able to handle stress and pressure and make a sound decision under duress
- Must be comfortable working in a busy highly populated area
- Must demonstrate high attention to detail / observational awareness
- Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team
- British Columbia Security License
Nice To Haves
- Experience in Loss Prevention / Retail Security is considered an asset
Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with and enforce property standards, rules, and regulations in a reasonable manner
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid, CPR, or AED support until medical professionals arrive
- Maintain and enforce access control procedures
- Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the property, in a fair and safe manner
- Maintain a detailed memo book and prepare incident reports on all matters
- Conduct periodic patrols of property either by foot
- Investigate incidents and occurrences
- Draft detailed incident and occurrence reports
- Maintain the peace, safety, and security of all patrons, and clients on the property
- Monitor CCTV surveillance systems
- De-escalate emergency/crisis situations
- Assist emergency and law enforcement personnel
- Access control, line management, customer service
- Assist with daily operations as needed/required or directed
