About The Position

Anderson Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Security Guard to work day shifts. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The Security Guard will be responsible for patrolling hospital grounds, controlling access to sensitive areas, managing visitor and patient safety, handling emergency situations, collaborating with hospital staff, and documenting all security-related activities through detailed reports and logs. The ideal candidate will possess strong observational skills, physical fitness, effective communication, an empathetic mindset, de-escalation abilities, and be tech-savvy. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, specific security training, and relevant certifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successfully complete a 20-hour Basic Security Training Course approved by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
• Obtain an Illinois PERC card (background check) AND Illinois Security License.
• Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training required within the first three months of employment.
• Two years previous security experience preferred.
• Experience in health care settings preferred.
• Interpersonal communication skills to effectively resolve hostile situations.
• Ability to comprehend and fulfill requirements related to security procedures and hospital policies and procedures.
• Ability to apply knowledge of patient rights, safety rights, safety practices, infection control principles, and risk management issues.
• Ability to maintain a high level of integration, confidentiality and professionalism.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Physical fitness to handle patrolling, assisting with lifting patients, and responding to emergencies.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Empathetic mindset.
• De-escalation abilities.
• Tech-savviness for report writing and managing security systems.
• BLS certification will be required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and secure premises by patrolling hospital grounds, inspecting for safety hazards, controlling access to sensitive areas, checking locks, and clearing emergency routes.
• Manage visitor and patient safety by performing guest control, visitor screening, after-hours escorts, morgue release procedures, assisting in transfers of high-risk patients, and managing visitation hours and procedures.
• Mediate and de-escalate conflicts to maintain a peaceful environment.
• Respond to emergency situations such as theft, violence, or medical emergencies, and lead evacuations during fire drills, disasters, or other emergencies.
• Collaborate with hospital staff by providing backup during challenging situations and assisting in subduing aggressive or agitated patients.
• Assist patients and visitors by providing guidance and directions, and explaining and enforcing hospital policies and procedures.
• Write incident reports to document occurrences like thefts, accidents, or conflicts.
• Maintain daily logs for security rounds, recording patrol activities, visitor access, unusual observations, and completed security tasks.
