About The Position

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for Greenwich House and its constituents. This position plays a crucial role in safeguarding assets, ensuring the safety of staff, constituents, and visitors, and upholding the organization's commitment to providing a safe and secure atmosphere. The Security Guard will be required to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods and must have the physical ability to respond to emergencies quickly. Requirements

  • 8 Hour Pre-Assessment Training.
  • 16 Hour on the Job Training (OJT).
  • Valid New York State Security Guard License.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations; highly trainable.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform security patrol duties.
  • Basic computer skills for monitoring surveillance equipment (if applicable).

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous Hospital/Clinic security experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control access to the Center for Healing, ensuring that only authorized individuals enter the facility.
  • Verify the identity of visitors, issue visitor passes and maintain visitor logs.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises, including interior and exterior areas, to deter and detect security threats.
  • Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms.
  • Utilize surveillance equipment, such as cameras and monitors, to monitor activities and areas of concern.
  • Report any suspicious activities or security breaches to the appropriate authorities.
  • Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Act swiftly and calmly in emergency situations, such as fire alarms, medical emergencies, or security breaches.
  • Interact with staff, constituents, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Effectively resolve conflicts and address disruptive behavior when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed security logs and incident reports.
  • Report security-related incidents to the Security Supervisor/Manager/Director of Safety and Security and/or law enforcement as required.
  • Perform safety checks on equipment, doors, and windows to ensure they are secure and functional.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
  • Collaborate with other staff members, including administrative and facilities teams, to address security and safety concerns.
  • Attend training sessions and stay up to date with security protocols and procedures.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Attend training on dealing with individuals who may be experiencing withdrawal symptoms, managing potentially volatile situations, maintaining the confidentiality of patients and zero tolerance for Fraternization.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by the direct supervisor.
