About The Position

Our facilities provide a wide array of vehicle services, including repair, reconditioning, and auction remarketing. As a Security Guard, you will be a crucial member of the Security Team, responsible for executing processes to ensure the safety of our associates, customers, and assets. You will serve as the initial point of contact for customers, vendors, and associates at our gates, playing an active role in enforcing Inventory Control procedures and utilizing ADESA technology. Support for vehicle location research may also be required. This is an hourly position that reports to the Operations or designated manager and may involve various shifts and weekend work.

Requirements

  • 1 - 2 years of experience within a customer service environment
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to relate well with others and establish strong working relationships
  • Ability to handle conflict situations in a positive way
  • Ability to accurately enter data on a handheld device or computer
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to organize, plan, and execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Requires computer data entry skills
  • Must adhere to regular and predictable attendance
  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license that meets the requirements
  • Able to safely drive a variety of make/model/sizes of vehicles
  • Requires standing for extended periods
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Secure all gates and buildings and patrol the premises.
  • Sound alarms and notify authorities in case of emergency.
  • Verify only authorized individuals enter the property.
  • Provide facility directions to customers, vendors and transporters.
  • Check gate passes to ensure vehicles are authorized to exit property.
  • Check departing vehicles to guard against theft of company property.
  • Greet customers at the gate and provide prompt and courteous service.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner.
  • De-escalate difficult situations to ensure positive outcomes and collaboration.
  • Using a handheld device, input vehicle information including the VIN number, miles, owner identification, vehicle options, repair orders and any other pertinent information.
  • Verify the VIN number being entered matches the VIN number on the shipper’s Bill of Lading.
  • Watch and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and doors left unsecured.
  • Account for and identify all keys, codes or other safety and security information.
  • Maintain a current list of emergency and management telephone numbers.
  • Maintain good operating condition of all equipment and facilities, including handheld devices and printers. Notify management of all breakdowns and maintenance needs.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and orderly work environment.
  • Practice and promote teamwork continuously. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.
  • Maintain a good flow of communication with all auction team members and leaders.
