About The Position

The Security Guard protects District facilities, housing, grounds, students, staff, and the public through scheduled and random patrols, facility inspections, incident response, traffic control, and reporting. The role also assists with fire response, student conduct, monthly inventory, and other departmental assignments. The position receives supervision from the Security Supervisor and provides no supervision.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Valid First Aid and CPR certificate.
Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Card.
Certification in the use of safety equipment, chemical agents, defensive tactics, handcuffs, and chemical baton.

Nice To Haves

A minimum of one year of relevant law enforcement or security experience is preferred.
Bilingual in Navajo and English is preferred.

Responsibilities

Make scheduled and random patrols of District facilities and housing to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
Secure facilities and inspect doors, windows, and gates during patrols.
Question unauthorized persons and detain them when necessary, or call police for assistance according to the emergency action plan.
Respond to incidents involving students or the public on District grounds, including violence, illegal drug activity, and safety matters.
Complete daily logs, security violation reports, and incident forms as needed.
Alert the fire department and school personnel in the event of a fire and assist with extinguishing it.
Report unusual conditions or malfunctioning heating, plumbing, or electrical systems in District buildings, grounds, and housing areas.
Patrol school grounds and housing areas to detect and report unauthorized or improperly parked vehicles.
Direct or control vehicle traffic on District property.
Assist staff with student conduct as necessary.
Assist with monthly inventory and other departmental assignments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
