About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Security Guard to join our team in Victoria, BC. This is a full-time position focused on maintaining the safety, security, and peace of all patrons and clients on the property. The role involves enforcing property standards, responding to emergencies, monitoring surveillance systems, and ensuring access control procedures are followed. The ideal candidate will be proactive, possess strong communication skills, and be able to handle stressful situations with professionalism and sound judgment.

Requirements

Must be willing and able to stand, walk, and patrol by foot for extended periods (8-12 hours).
Valid BC Security license
Valid OFA 1 certificate
Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism.
Must have at least 1 year of prior Security experience.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must have a strong command and fluency in the English language both written and verbal.
Must be able to take a Proactive approach to all onsite situations.
Must be capable of retaining all relevant information provided by management and designated staff.
Able to take constructive feedback where appropriate.
Must be unafraid to attend highly stressful emergency situations.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment both indoors and outdoors as required.
Must be able to handle stress and pressure and make a sound decision under duress.
Must be comfortable working in a busy highly populated area.
Must demonstrate high attention to detail / observational awareness.
Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team.

Nice To Haves

Experience in Loss Prevention / Retail Security is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Maintain compliance with and enforce property standards, rules, and regulations in a reasonable manner.
Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid, CPR, or AED support until medical professionals arrive.
Maintain and enforce access control procedures.
Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the property, in a fair and safe manner.
Maintain a detailed memo book and prepare incident reports on all matters.
Conduct periodic patrols of property either by foot.
Investigate incidents and occurrences.
Draft detailed incident and occurrence reports.
Maintain the peace, safety, and security of all patrons, and clients on the property.
Monitor CCTV surveillance systems.
De-escalate emergency/crisis situations.
Assist emergency and law enforcement personnel.
Access control, line management, customer service.
Assist with daily operations as needed/required or directed.
