About The Position

The Security Guard is responsible for performing protective and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner in coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances and threats to life and property. Maintains a safe and secure environment for guests, visitors, and team members.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of customer service experience required, hospitality industry preferred.
  • Should be able to work independently and with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English in order to communicate with guests and team members.
  • Have a strong attention to details.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Must be a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Always approaches all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly and service-oriented manner by maintaining a positive demeanor.
  • Promotes a positive and caring work environment by addressing and resolving any conflict in a calm and poised manner.
  • Patrols the interior and perimeter of the hotel to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions.
  • Evaluates situations and makes logical decisions on how to proceed and direct work to ensure optimum security.
  • Maintains order in the hotel, dealing with the welfare of guests, coordinates expedient response to emergency conditions such as fire, safety hazards, and threats to life and/or property in a calm, rational and persuasive manner.
  • Handles undesired conduct, violations of hotel policy and civil laws as warranted for the security and safety of hotel guests, employees, patrons, and property.
  • Answers security telephone and safety hotline calls and respond in a timely manner based on priority.
  • Be familiar with all applicable laws and codes to ensure proper compliance.
  • Memorizes and monitors life safety system including accurate layout of entire building, locations of standpipes, fire extinguishers, completes alarm reports, and checks and reports any pertinent information from each shift.
  • Provides accurate information to inquirers for directions and hours of operations.
  • Receives, records, and secures found property.
  • Observes and monitors for any unusual activity and in the case of suspicious behavior report directly, via radio, to the supervisor on duty; report any alarms similarly.
  • Assists guests with door lock and in room safe problems.
  • Escorts guests and employees as required to parking lots.
  • Administers CPR and First Aid.
  • Responds to guest complaints, conducts research to develop the most effective solutions and negotiates results.
  • Projects a professional manner with an emphasis on hospitality and guest service.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by management.
