About The Position

ADESA, a Carvana owned company, is seeking a Security Guard Lead for its San Antonio location. This is a full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week. ADESA operates over 50 locations across the US, providing a wide array of vehicle services including repair, reconditioning, and auction remarketing. The company fosters a collaborative, fast-paced, and competitive work environment with a strong emphasis on teamwork and customer service. ADESA is undergoing a multi-year expansion with significant investments in facilities, sales growth, and inventory.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of security experience preferred.
  • EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Certification required.
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends, and/or nights.
  • Qualified to operate a motor vehicle (automatic and standard).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong computer ability with basic knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good business judgment and discretion.
  • Well-organized and responsible with an aptitude in problem-solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong multitasking skills along with the ability to adapt to changing work environments.
  • Must have qualifications in Security Guard.
  • Must be able to perform all Security Guard responsibilities and skills.
  • Ability to work in inside and outside environmental conditions, including temperature changes, weather, elevated noise levels, and minor atmospheric conditions.
  • Ability to perform Light to Medium Physical Work.
  • Constant standing, watching, touching, fingering, listening, walking.
  • Frequent talking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, crouching.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting.
  • Potential for running, jumping, yelling, or other rapid or forceful movement in emergency situations.
  • Must pass a complete background check.
  • Not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Secure all gates, checking all incoming and outgoing vehicles for proper authority to enter or exit.
  • Ensure all personnel entering the facility have proper authority.
  • Secure and monitor the entire auction facility after business hours in accordance with corporate and security guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform all duties assigned by the Security Operations Manager or designated manager.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures and state or federal laws are followed at all times.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to customers.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and a neat work environment.
  • Ensure customers receive prompt, efficient, and courteous attention.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a friendly, courteous manner.
  • Advise Security Operations Manager or designated manager of all serious complaints or incidences.
  • Inspect the fence line for indications of unauthorized entry or potential security risks.
  • Ensure offices, auction building, and grounds are secured at established times.
  • Note any security, safety, or fire hazards.
  • Watch for and report irregularities, such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
  • Secure gates at established times and patrol auction property.
  • Check for unlocked doors.
  • Maintain radio contact with the main gate.
  • Warn violators of rule infractions and apprehend or expel miscreants.
  • Sound alarm or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property.
  • Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
  • Practice and promote teamwork.
  • Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.
  • Ensure proper follow-through on all directives, bulletins, schedules, and accounting.
  • Maintain good communication with other auction personnel.
  • Recommend new customer services and procedures.
  • Monitor and control all facility conditions, vehicles, property, and equipment.
  • Advise Security Operations Manager and Maintenance of all breakdowns and maintenance needs immediately.
  • Ensure good routine preventative maintenance.
  • Make sure that area conditions do not threaten employee or customer safety.
  • Respond to and follow proper procedures on employee and customer accidents, injuries, and loss or damage to property.
  • Report all incidents to the Lot Manager immediately.
  • Practice proper loss prevention and reaction procedures.
  • Account for and identify all keys, codes, or other safety or security information.
  • Maintain a current list of emergency and Management phone numbers.
  • Receive and review reports of all activity: Filing of Daily Activity Reports (DAR), Special Reports (SR), Lost and Found Reports (LFR), Security Incident Reports (SIR).
  • Manage time sheets, scheduling of shifts for employees, and all related documents.
  • Conduct training for new employees.
  • Attend weekly auction site meetings.
  • Understand all auction procedures and roles, and build/maintain relationships with every department.
  • Resolve conflicts and concerns with employees and/or customers.
  • Monitor/Manage cameras and observe footage.
  • Review all worker’s compensation and incident reports.
  • Communicate to customers in a clear and professional manner regarding regulations, prohibitions, and policies.
  • Help customers locate their vehicles on the property.
  • Answer phone calls regarding directions, vehicle locations, and vehicle information.
  • Receive vehicles for auction, mark to the correct account/customer, and guide to proper check-in lanes.
  • Release vehicles by ensuring the correct gate release matches the vehicle and authorization.
  • Inspect vehicles leaving the property to deter theft.
  • Respond to CCTV calls, check reported areas, and file reports.
