About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Professional Flex Officer for a global shipping company in Downtown Manhattan. The officer will safeguard clients and may work across a range of industries and site assignments. A shift-pickup platform lets officers view and claim open shifts based on availability. The role may involve irregular shifts with little or no advance notice. Available shifts include morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight, and candidates should be flexible Monday through Sunday. The pay rate is $18.00 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or five years of verifiable experience.
• Meet applicable state or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
• Valid driver's license if driving a company- or customer-owned vehicle.
• Submit to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
• Submit to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Be at least 18 years old, or older if required by the state; 21 years old if armed.
• Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments.
• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
• Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly, accurately, and informatively.
• Active listening and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to assess and evaluate situations and identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
• Ability to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy.
• Teamwork and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic.
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Sound alarms or call the police or fire department in the event of a fire or unauthorized persons.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.
• Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure authorized property removal meets client requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post.
• Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Make emergency notifications as necessary under site Post Orders.
