About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Professional Flex Officer for a corporate office in Newark, Delaware. The officer serves and safeguards clients and may work across a range of industries. Using a shift-pickup platform, officers can view and claim open shifts according to their availability. The position provides experience across different sites and may involve irregular shifts with little or no advance notice. A flex schedule is offered, and duties include foot patrols requiring walking and standing, as well as working outdoors in the elements. Starting pay is $17.00 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or five years of verifiable experience.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Licensing may be required before employment, subject to state and local laws and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license if driving a company- or customer-owned vehicle.
• Must pass a background investigation, in accordance with applicable laws.
• Must pass a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• No prior experience is required.
• Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments.
• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
• Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly, accurately, and informatively.
• Active listening and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to assess and evaluate situations and identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
• Ability to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy.
• Teamwork and attention to detail.
• Ability to walk and stand for foot patrol duties and work outside in the elements.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic.
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Sound alarms or call the police or fire department in the event of a fire or unauthorized persons.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.
• Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure authorized removal complies with client requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities, and maintain written logs as required by the post.
• Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Make emergency notifications as necessary according to site Post Orders.
