Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience installing and servicing commercial fire alarm and security systems.
  • Working knowledge of fire alarm control panels, burglar alarm systems, access control systems, CCTV/IP camera systems, and low-voltage wiring methods.
  • NICET Fire Alarm certification (Level I, II, or higher).
  • Experience with various manufacturers.
  • Lift certification and experience operating aerial lifts.
  • Knowledge of network fundamentals for IP-based security systems.
  • Ability to read electrical and low-voltage drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks and handle the physical demands of the job, including but not limited to, digging using a shovel, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Technician with installing, programming, testing, inspecting, and maintaining commercial fire alarm systems.
  • Install and service intrusion alarm systems, access control systems, CCTV/video surveillance, and related low-voltage equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections on company-owned systems.
  • Diagnose and repair system faults, wiring issues, devices, control panels, and communication equipment.
  • Conduct acceptance testing, functional testing, and system commissioning.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure all installations comply with applicable NFPA, NEC, local building codes, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers and field crews to schedule installations, inspections, and service work.
  • Maintain accurate service reports, inspection records, programming documentation, and as-built drawings.
  • Train end users on basic system operation when required.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and replacement parts.
  • Respond to service calls and emergency repair requests as needed.
  • Assist with estimating repairs and identifying opportunities for system upgrades.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
