About The Position

SMI Security is seeking a dependable, experienced, and highly motivated Road Captain to support our field and nighttime operations. This position requires strong leadership, accountability, flexibility, and the ability to work independently while responding effectively to changing operational needs. This is an active field position requiring extensive driving, property visits, officer supervision, and the ability to adapt to the needs of SMI Security's operations.

Requirements

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in security or field operations.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and no points.
  • Extensive driving throughout the shift is required.
  • Strong reliability, flexibility, and availability, including the ability to respond to unexpected operational needs and emergencies.
  • Ability to work a flexible 40-hour workweek.
  • Demonstrate strong follow-through and attention to instructions.
  • Must be able to receive direction, complete assignments independently, provide updates, and follow tasks through to completion.
  • Strong sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability when addressing operational issues.
  • Comfortable spending a significant portion of the workday driving between properties, conducting field inspections, supervising officers, and working independently.
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable using mobile applications, reporting systems, GPS/telematics, email, and other technology used in daily operations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with security officers, clients, supervisors, and management.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate professionally with security officers, clients, supervisors, and management.
  • Occasionally cover open shifts at client properties when operationally necessary.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Respond quickly and professionally when operational priorities change.
