About The Position

The Security Estimator will be responsible for estimating and preparing proposals for burglar alarms, CCTV, surveillance systems, etc. This role involves performing bid layouts, completing material takeoffs, obtaining vendor pricing, and writing quotes. The position also requires performing basic calculations, code research, and assisting other estimators. The Security Estimator will read, learn, interpret, and apply code requirements pertaining to job specifications, and work with sales, operations, and design staff to interpret project specifications. Key responsibilities include producing timely and accurate estimates according to fixed bid dates/schedules, generating status reports, and participating in planning meetings. The role also involves providing timely and accurate entries into operating systems and updating Compass regularly, modeling the Company’s Core Values, and performing other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience estimating security systems.
  • Familiarity with and ability to read, interpret, and apply NFPA Code.
  • Ability to create alarm & suppression layouts and perform material take-offs.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to use independent judgement.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to deliver high quality results by deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience working against deadlines and an excellent track record of completing projects on time.
  • Proven dedication to safety compliance and safe work practices.
  • Ability to maintain valid driver’s license and drive to job sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with low voltage systems (Fire Alarm, Access Control, CCTV, Security) preferred.
  • License for area of expertise preferred.
