About The Position

Project Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The Leo Security team owns the security of product and operations of Project Kuiper end-to-end. We provide the necessary infrastructure and mechanisms to ensure the security of our satellite constellation and to protect the integrity and confidentiality of our customer data. Our team drives the research & development, deployment and operation of several mission-critical security systems and mechanisms. You will work in a start-up like environment, backed by Amazon’s infrastructure to bootstrap security mechanisms, and help instill the security culture in the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Security Engineering management
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing or leading engineering teams
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
  • U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of Software Development or Software Development Management or Security Engineering Management experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of information security technologies such as security design review, threat modeling, risk analysis, and software testing techniques.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with a focus on translating technically complex issues into simple, easy to understand concepts.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a team of security engineers and technical program managers working on automated and scalable checkers and detections, as well as vulnerability management mechanisms.
  • Identifying and driving remediation of security issues at scale.
  • Creating metrics to demonstrate your team’s performance.
  • Setting the direction for a team of security professionals responsible for validating the security posture of all of Project Leo products and services.
  • Combining long-term strategic planning to raise the bar on security across the enterprise with the excitement and challenge of quickly reacting to new threat scenarios.
  • Speaking authoritatively on behalf of your team with demonstrated depth and breadth of technical knowledge.
  • Being responsible for your team’s organizational structure and how that team works within the context of the larger Amazon Security team.
  • Leveraging the strengths of individual team members, delegating tasks appropriately, and managing the delivery of long-term projects.
  • Acting as a thought leader across the organization with deep knowledge in your domain.
