About The Position

The Security Posture Management team works to help engineers work efficiently with minimal friction while maintaining high standards of security controls for critical infrastructure. The intern will contribute to Meta’s infrastructure security while developing security engineering skills in a collaborative and supportive environment. Starting Summer 2027, this internship offers hands-on experience solving complex security problems and developing engineering solutions.

Requirements

• Must be in the process of obtaining a BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical issues to security and non-security audiences.
• Experience writing code in Python, PHP, Java, Ruby, Go, Rust, C/C++, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with one or more of the following areas: distributed systems, software security, cybersecurity, computer security, or cloud computing.
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using metrics to measure service and program effectiveness and consistency.
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IAC) tools such as Terraform, SaltStack, or Ansible through classes, labs, previous internships, or personal projects.
• Contributions to the security or privacy community, such as public research, open-source work, blogging, or presentations.
• Intent to return to a full-time degree program after completion of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to build features in existing tools that address security problems at scale at Meta.
• Support validation of proofs of concept and execution of tests to influence the definition of company security standards and controls.
• Improve the reliability of security tools used in the company’s security posture management program in partnership with senior engineers.
