About The Position

This is a high-visibility, client-facing role where you will partner closely with sales executives, project managers, and end-user clients to design state-of-the-art enterprise security solutions. Our client is a premier, full-service technology integrator with over $100 million in revenue, a strong national footprint, and a track record of rapid expansion. They are currently expanding their New York City operations and looking for a Pre-Sales / Security Design Engineer to serve as the technical authority for commercial physical security and low-voltage project bids.

Requirements

3+ years of experience in physical security estimating, system design, pre-sales engineering, or low-voltage design for a systems integrator or engineering consulting firm.
Strong ability to read blueprints, architectural drawings, and RFP specifications.
Proficient with project takeoffs and estimate building.
Deep familiarity with enterprise access control and video management platforms (e.g., Genetec, LenelS2, CCURE, Software House, Axis, Milestone, Hanwha).

Nice To Haves

Hands-on experience with field installation, system programming, or troubleshooting is a huge plus.
Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
Industry certifications (e.g., PSP, BICSI, or platform-specific certifications) are a strong plus.

Responsibilities

Evaluate client scope requirements, RFP specs, and architectural plans to design enterprise-grade Physical Security solutions (Access Control, CCTV/VMS, Intrusion Detection, and Intercoms).
Conduct on-site walk-throughs across the NYC Tri-State area to assess project layouts, existing conditions, and technical requirements.
Perform detailed takeoffs, obtain competitive vendor/subcontractor pricing, and assemble complete Bills of Materials (BOMs), labor estimates, and scope-of-work (SOW) documents.
Partner with sales teams during pre-sales client discovery sessions and lead technical handoff meetings to project management execution teams once deals close.
Produce or assist with shop drawings, riser diagrams, rack elevations, and submittal packages using AutoCAD/Revit.
