About The Position

Armed security position with some supervisory and evaluation responsibility over others. Coordinate security operations, drills, exercises, and protocols for all grade levels, and support departments within their designated feeder group. Collaboratively, with school administration, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate security staff within their feeder group. Conduct internal investigations and document incidents involving violations of law, policy, or other safety- and security-related incidents within or against the District.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or some college with credits related to law enforcement, criminal justice, or an equivalent amount of related work experience.
  • Three (3) years of Administrator, Director, Manager, Supervisor, security, law enforcement, or military experience.
  • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office product line and general computer skills.
  • Good overall physical fitness, eye-hand coordination, hearing, and eyesight.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
  • Experience leading and coordinating teams.
  • Experience conducting emergency exercises, drills, and staff trainings.
  • Basic knowledge of the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) produced by the I Love U Guys Foundation.
  • At least two years (2) of supervisory and evaluation experience.
  • Intermediate organizational skills.
  • Intermediate interpersonal relations skills.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to promote and follow the Board of Education policies, District policies, and building and department procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Basic knowledge of geographic configuration of the school district.

  • Ability to operate a two-way radio.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
  • Basic knowledge of surveillance camera systems and security alarm systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
  • Intermediate interview and investigation skills.
  • Intermediate report writing skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS) and the Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS).
  • Intermediate skills in human relations and relationship-building.
  • Advanced skills in conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and current motor vehicle insurance.
  • Must complete the training and certification(s) for the use of the Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as determined by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
  • Must complete and pass CPR training annually.
  • Must complete and pass Basic First Aid and Bleeding Control training annually.
  • Must complete and pass Defensive Tactics training as determined by the District annually.
  • Must complete and pass Emergency Driving training as determined by the District annually.
  • Must possess a State of Colorado concealed weapons permit or do so within six (6) months of employment. Must initially complete, pass, and consistently maintain weapons proficiency by passing the Colorado POST.
  • Handgun Firearms Qualification Course each time firearms training is conducted throughout the year (multiple firearms qualification and training dates); a minimum of eight (8) hours of firearms annually. Employee must provide their own firearm.
  • Must complete and pass all Active Shooter Training determined by the District annually; a minimum of eight (8) hours annually.
  • Must complete and pass minimum physical agility test annually.
  • Must complete any other required training determined by the District.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field.
  • Three (3) year experience as supervisor.
  • Three (3) year experience as an investigator.
  • Three (3) year experience carrying a firearm as a condition of employment
  • Three (3) year experience as an armed security officer, police officer or armed military experience.
  • Experience with surveillance camera systems, alarm systems, and/or digital radios systems.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Basic knowledge of District policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate security operations, drills, exercises, and protocols for all grade levels, and support departments within their designated feeder group. Support district-wide operations within the Cherry Creek School District to ensure safe and secure school environments.
  • Assist school administration with hiring and training Security Supervisors and Specialists at the high schools and middle schools and if called on, advise on their performance in the evaluation process.
  • Conduct internal investigations and document incidents involving violations of law, policy, or other safety- and security-related incidents within or against the District, to include conducting interviews, writing reports, collecting statements, photo, and video evidence. Act as a liaison with local public safety agencies on matters of criminal investigations and other safety- and security-related investigations.
  • Respond to calls for service throughout the District and support all school administrators, staff, and other departments with safety and security concerns. Serve as the lead response personnel for any school-related safety incident or crisis and serve as the Incident Command (IC) for safety incidents, special events, and assignments to include but not limited to Board of Education events, reunification operations, etc.
  • Develop and engage in collaborative and professional relationships with the local law enforcement agencies, school administration, outside security teams, parents/guardians, students, etc. Give presentations, teach safety protocols, and pre-plan response efforts with multiple groups.
  • Serve in a rotational capacity for after-hours response and consultation for safety and security emergencies with other members of the District Safety and Security Team.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
