About The Position

Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS) is seeking a detail-oriented and professional Security Compliance Officer to help maintain the safety and security of Halifax Stanfield International Airport. In this role, you will ensure contractors, vendors, and other authorized personnel comply with airport security requirements while working in restricted areas. This position plays an important role in protecting airport operations and supporting a secure environment through vigilance, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.

  • Be knowledgeable of, or be willing to learn, Canadian Air Transportation Regulations (SOR/2011-316), the Halifax Airport Security Program, and all other pertinent Halifax Airport orders and directives.
  • Be knowledgeable of, or be willing to learn, provincial and federal legislation that may impact operations, including: Canada Labour Code, Nova Scotia Labour Standards Code, Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Human Rights Act, Workers’ Compensation Act

Responsibilities

  • Monitor contractors, vendors, and authorized personnel working within Restricted and Critical Areas to ensure compliance with airport security requirements.
  • Enforce HIAA Security procedures and Transport Canada regulations during construction, maintenance, and operational projects.
  • Conduct security surveillance and provide escorts for personnel and vehicles operating in restricted areas.
  • Verify credentials and control access to restricted work sites.
  • Issue and enforce Visitor and Contractor Passes in accordance with airport security procedures.
  • Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and reports of security activities, incidents, and observations.
  • Identify and report security concerns, safety hazards, and regulatory violations.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies while maintaining compliance with airport security protocols.
  • Provide professional customer service while ensuring security requirements are consistently enforced.
  • Complete all required on-the-job and mandatory airport security training.
