About The Position

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Homewood Mountain Resort, set on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe in Homewood, California. Homewood is seeking a Security Attendant to join the Mountain Operations Department. The Security Attendant plays a key role in maintaining a safe and secure environment across both public-facing resort areas and restricted construction zones. This position blends customer service with access control, hazard recognition, and incident response. Operating in an unarmed capacity, the Security Attendant emphasizes prevention through visible presence, keen observation, and accurate reporting, while adhering to all company policies and state regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid California Guard Card or ability to obtain prior to hire
  • CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain prior to hire
  • Familiarity with workplace safety standards and hazard recognition
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members
  • Strong situational awareness and observational skills
  • Effective conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to stay organized and effective while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in security, ski resort operations, or prior military / LEO preferred

Responsibilities

  • Patrol resort facilities including lodges, lifts, parking areas, and base operations
  • Provide guest assistance, directions, and general information
  • Monitor for unsafe or disruptive behavior and respond appropriately
  • Support emergency response activities including medical incidents and evacuations
  • Enforce access control at construction zones and restricted areas
  • Verify contractor credentials and maintain entry/exit logs
  • Monitor equipment, materials, and job sites for theft or unauthorized use
  • Ensure perimeter controls (fencing, signage, barriers) are maintained
  • Identify and report hazards including weather-related risks, terrain issues, and heavy equipment activity
  • Respond to incidents within scope of training and escalate as needed
  • Coordinate with ski patrol, resort operations, and construction supervisors
  • Initiate emergency response protocols and contact emergency services when required
  • Complete Daily Activity Reports (DARs) and incident documentation
  • Maintain accurate logs of site activity, access control, and incidents
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other departments
  • Other duties as assigned
