About The Position

This position conducts supervisor level work involving the security and care of patients at Maryland Department of Health (MDH) facilities where care is provided to mentally ill offenders, or residents who have been judged not criminally responsible for committing felonies; and to those who are too violent for a regular hospital or residential setting and who have been deemed dangerous to themselves or others. This position manages the work of Security Attendants. This position may be assigned to drive a state vehicle. This position receives general supervision by the Chief Operating Officer and/or Security Attendant Manager. This position is subject to call-in during emergencies and staffing shortages. This position is considered an Essential Employee and must report during State of Emergencies and when the facility is closed by the State of Maryland.

Requirements

High School diploma or high school equivalency certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education.
Three years of experience providing security to patients or inmates or youths committed by courts to psychiatric hospitals, correctional facilities or juvenile detention centers.
U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status
Must be at least 21 years of age
A completed background investigation
Oral interview
Physical examination
Must provide the facility with a telephone number where they can be reached.
Subject to substance abuse testing.

Nice To Haves

Experience supervising security officers
Experience working with the intellectually disabled population
Experience working with the forensic population
Possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
