About The Position

The Security Ambassador ensures the safety of people, property, and buildings, either in person or via security cameras, while also ensuring that the needs of the program and its participants are met within scope. This role involves orienting and informing clients, monitoring premises, investigating security breaches, completing reports, maintaining organizational stability, ensuring equipment operation, assisting clients with program needs, conducting safety checks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, responding to crises, and participating in safety programming.

  • Ability to adhere to professional standards.
  • Ability to stand and/or patrol for the duration of the scheduled shift.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to remain alert.
  • Ability to operate required computer programs for the position, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, electronic timekeeping system, electronic learning management system, upon hire or demonstrated competency developed within 90 days of employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and liability insurance if driving a personal or company vehicle on BHS business.
  • Vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination must be adequate for the performance of job duties.
  • Able to sit at a desk, use a keyboard, write, and physically perform other job duties.
  • Able to move about the facility to observe clients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Orient and inform clients, prospective clients, and visitors of program expectations, policy, and procedures.
  • Secure and monitor program activities, premises, and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points.
  • Investigate security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behaviors.
  • Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
  • Maintain the organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements and working with other staff members, building staff, and others.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and requests.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing program tasks including administrative functions as needed, such as filing and uploading.
  • Assist clients with program needs, access to meals, hygiene, finding information, and filling out forms as needed.
  • Complete scheduled client checks and random inspections to ensure that clients and facilities are safe and secure.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including but not limited to DMH, DHCS, SAPC, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, CARF, etc.
  • Respond to behavioral crises, medical emergencies, suicidal ideation, overdose (including administration of anti-overdose medications as needed), or acute intoxication safely, within scope of practice.
  • Report and record any changes observed in client condition or behavior, including unusual incidents.
  • Identify, report, and assist with the management of emergencies.
  • Participate in safety programming to promote client and staff safety.
  • Maintain health and safety standards of the facility.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, case conferences, and program planning.
  • Contribute to agency quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and standards.
  • Treat clients with respect, care, and concern.
  • Comply with confidentiality requirements at all times.
  • Maintain familiarity with BHS policies and procedures and other applicable regulations; perform job duties accordingly.
  • Represent BHS well in all contacts.
  • Courteously answer phones, appropriately directing calls and taking messages.
  • Facilitate client external communication as approved by supervisor.
  • Attend meetings and trainings and participate in committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
