About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for properly executing security duties on an assigned shift to adequately protect the life and property of customers, employees, and others on HCCTR property. This role involves ensuring the safety of employees and others, greeting patrons, visually inspecting bags and patrons for unauthorized items, and reporting any violations or situations detrimental to the company. The position also requires watching for and reporting irregularities, enthusiastically supporting customer service standards, and maintaining compliance with established behavior and appearance standards. Confidentiality regarding the Security department and other confidential information is crucial. A professional work environment must be maintained with management and staff, and participation in meetings and training is required. All job duties must be performed safely and responsibly, with immediate reporting of any safety hazards. The role also includes preparing reports as requested or required.

Requirements

• Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
• Must have good observation skills.
• Must speak clearly and politely; respond well to questions.
• Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, employees and others.
• Effective in communicating and presenting information and responding to questions from supervisors, managers, fellow employees and/or the general public.
• Ability to accurately calculate figures and amounts and perform mathematical functions applicable to business needs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Must obtain licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commissions every year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety of employees and others.
• Greets patrons and visually inspects bags, purses and patrons for unauthorized items.
• Reports to the Security supervisor, any violations, acts or situations which are detrimental to the best interest of HCCTR.
• Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, etc.
• Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
• Ensures behavior and appearance are in compliance with established standards.
• Maintains complete confidentiality at all times with respect to the internal functions of the Security department as well as any other information deemed to be confidential.
• Maintains a professional work environment with management and staff.
• Participates in meetings and training as required.
• Performs all job duties in a safe and responsible manner and reports safety hazards immediately.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by department and/or company management.
• Prepares reports as requested or required.
