Security Administrator (IT / Security

Premier Credit UnionDes Moines, IA

About The Position

Premier Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa. We are a small IT team with big ambitions. IT has full leadership support, real budget, and a technology roadmap worth getting excited about. If you want ownership, variety, and to actually see the impact of your work, you will fit right in. Most security roles at the 2-to-3-year mark mean working one queue inside a large SOC. This one is different. We are hiring a Security Administrator to own our entire security environment: Microsoft 365, network perimeter, and endpoints. You will not be a ticket-taker in a siloed security function. You will build, configure, tune, and defend the whole stack, working directly alongside a close-knit IT team with leadership that backs your decisions. If you are a security analyst or IT administrator with a strong foundation and the ambition to step up into full ownership, this role offers hands-on experience with identity, perimeter, endpoint, and incident response that usually takes years of promotions to accumulate inside a large security team.

Requirements

  • 2 to 3+ years of hands-on experience in information security or security-focused IT administration (for example: Security Analyst, SOC Analyst, Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, Help Desk with security responsibilities stepping up)
  • Working experience with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (Azure AD) security features such as Conditional Access, MFA, and DLP
  • Hands-on exposure to EDR/XDR or SIEM tools (CrowdStrike Falcon, Microsoft Sentinel, Defender for Endpoint, Splunk, or similar)
  • Solid networking fundamentals, including firewalls and VPN concepts
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical risk to a non-technical audience
  • Genuine drive to own an environment end to end, learn fast, and grow into an expert
  • Must be located in Iowa or willing to relocate at own expense

Nice To Haves

  • Palo Alto Networks firewall experience or PCNSE certification
  • Full ownership experience with an EDR/XDR or SIEM platform
  • Familiarity with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (NIST CSF), Zero Trust architecture, or financial institution compliance requirements (GLBA, FFIEC, NCUA)
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, SSCP, Microsoft SC-200, or Microsoft SC-300

Responsibilities

  • Own Microsoft 365 security administration: email security, data loss prevention (DLP), information protection, and Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), including Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and multi-factor authentication (MFA)
  • Manage next-generation firewalls (NGFW), VPNs, and network perimeter security controls
  • Administer EDR/XDR and SIEM platforms, growing into full ownership of deployment, analytic rule authoring, alert tuning, threat detection, and security monitoring
  • Lead incident response across the full lifecycle, from detection and containment through remediation and reporting
  • Communicate cybersecurity risk clearly to non-technical leadership and support security compliance efforts

  • Health insurance
