Under directive supervision, the Section Operator coordinates the operation of Section facilities that may affect the electric and gas transmission and distribution systems. This role is responsible for coordinating the outage of lines and equipment for testing, maintenance, and repairs to ensure service continuity in cooperation with Area and District operating personnel. The operator issues switching orders for de-energizing, grounding, tagging, and re-energizing various facilities, and ensures strict adherence to operating instructions and standard procedures for both electric and gas operations. The position involves making initial analyses of trouble within the Section to minimize interruptions, operating and monitoring electric substations, and maintaining gas pressures within limits using supervisory control equipment. The role also includes keeping operational logs, updating system diagram boards, receiving trouble calls during off-duty hours, dispatching crews for minor issues, recognizing unusual conditions, and performing other related duties as required.
