About The Position

Gas Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Section Manager. The role provides guidance for the creation, review, and revision of Company specifications, drawings, bulletins, and policies in conformance with PSC, DOT, OSHA, and other applicable laws and regulations. The Section Manager interprets specifications and codes, leads or supports research and development projects and industry developments related to gas construction, distribution, and maintenance, and guides decisions on engineering problems associated with preparing specifications and procedures. The role also leads communication of specification changes following a management-of-change protocol. The position leads and develops a team, oversees specification work and related research and development, and supervises business planning, goals, rate case items, budgets, and deliverables. It is responsible for implementing environmental, health, and safety programs and ensuring safe work practices and environmental protection. The selected candidate will have a System Emergency Assignment and may need to work outside business hours during emergencies, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and travel within the Company service territory as needed. The position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
A minimum of 8 years of full-time relevant work experience.
A minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
Ability to foster a team-spirited work environment in support of Con Edison’s Corporate Values and Mission Statement.
Proficiency in Company computer applications, including Oracle and Microsoft Office.
Ability and willingness to learn new computer applications and adopt new technology.
Ability and willingness to present to senior leadership at meetings and conferences.

Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations.
Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion.
Driver's License required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of NYCRR Part 255 and DOT 49 CFR Part 192.
Financial, analytical, and project management skills.
Knowledge of and experience using Business Intelligence, Gas Central, eGIS ArcFM, and Synergi.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team through coaching, performance management, and effective work assignment to drive aligned execution and business outcomes.
Supervise the preparation and revision of Company specifications in conformance with PSC, DOT, OSHA, and other applicable laws and regulations, and provide interpretation of specifications and codes.
Oversee support for research and development projects and industry developments related to gas construction, distribution, and maintenance specifications.
Supervise the development, preparation, and tracking of business plans, goals, rate case items, budgets, and related deliverables.
Ensure implementation of Company environmental, health, and safety programs for employees under direct supervision.
Ensure safe work practices are followed and the environment is protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
Lead or support engineering research and development and industry developments associated with gas construction, distribution, and maintenance.
Guide decisions on engineering problems associated with specification and procedure preparation.
Communicate changes in specifications following a management-of-change protocol.
