Our Technologists are conducting the widest array of testing in this fast-paced, high-volume Ivy League Academic Medical Center environment. Here you'll have the opportunity to perform laboratory procedures in preparing and dispensing blood and blood products as ordered by physicians while serving as a lead to other Laboratory Technologists. Troubleshoot instruments and methods. Be at the forefront of maintaining inventory blood and blood products for our patients in accordance with departmental guidelines. In addition to gel technology, our state-of-the-art facilities utilize Echo Lumena & NEO Iris analyzers for testing with solid phase methodology. Perform all quality control procedures and assist in the evaluation of new equipment, reagents and methodologies. Calibrate and maintain lab instrumentation. Research and establish new procedures to improve laboratory operations while developing your leadership portfolio in this highly visible position. As a Section Chief, you will have the opportunity to facilitate educational & training programs for both employees and clinical rotational students as well as the implementation of quality control initiatives. Demonstrate your expertise with the design/development/implementation of continuous education programs plus facilitating training sessions and associated assessments/feedback/performance metrics. Provide mentoring and support of team members ensuring proper skill development & knowledge retention while developing and managing quality control procedures & audit processes with a focus on trends & process improvements in this highly visible role.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of clinical laboratory experience or 2 years of clinical laboratory experience with Master’s degree or 1 years of experience with a MD, DO or doctoral degree in a chemical, physical or biological science
  • Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Medical Technology or equivalent curriculum unless credentials are grandfathered in as life experience
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department

  • ASCP certification
  • 5 years of demonstrated Blood Bank experience including Quality Control & Education/Training
  • Demonstrated ability to assist on-site/on-call supervisor with daily operations
