About The Position

Team Carney is seeking a detail-oriented Section 508 / QA Tester to support the NIC Curriculum Modernization, E-Learning Development, & Instructor-Led Training Revision Support initiative. This position is contingent on contract award. The Section 508 / QA Tester will serve as the primary technical authority ensuring that all digital deliverables, training products, e-learning courseware, and LMS interfaces meet federal accessibility standards and Quality Assurance benchmarks. You will perform manual and automated accessibility testing against Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. Working early in the development lifecycle with instructional designers and graphic developers, you will identify non-compliance defects, provide actionable remediation guidance, and maintain complete compliance documentation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Associate’s degree (or equivalent technical training/certification in digital accessibility or quality control).
  • 2+ years of hands-on Section 508 testing, accessibility compliance testing, or e-learning quality assurance experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in conducting manual and automated Section 508 accessibility testing.
  • In-depth understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards.
  • Experience utilizing screen readers (e.g., JAWS, NVDA), keyboard navigation testing, color contrast analyzers, and document accessibility tools.
  • Ability to identify, document, and track compliance defects while delivering clear remediation instructions to development teams.
  • Experience auditing digital document formats (PDF, Word, PowerPoint) and e-learning course packages (SCORM/Articulate/Lectora).

Responsibilities
