About The Position

Under general supervision, performs clerical, data entry and statistical record keeping by performing the following duties. This role involves typing letters and other correspondence including legal documents, processing reports, statistics, and databases, and maintaining proper documents including police reports and databases. The position also involves preparing databases and statistics of social files, becoming familiar with State Statutes and Court policies concerning delinquent youths, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Skill in maintaining accurate records, statistics, databases, and delinquent files.
  • Skill in using a calculator and related Office machines.
  • Typing 60 WPM.
  • Skill in formatting reports and other data as requested by Supervisor.
  • Skill in accurate spelling, punctuation, and business English.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Access software programs.
  • Knowledge of Juvenile On-Line Tracking System (JOLTS) report screen.
  • Knowledge of administrative policies, Juvenile Court policies, and State Statutes.
  • Knowledge of legal and social files.
  • Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to prepare record checks for military and law enforcement.
  • Ability to prepare statistical reports and complete some legal forms.
  • Ability to organize and plan work.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgement.
  • Ability to perceive clerical errors and work tactfully with others.
  • Ability to have the flexibility to migrate from one task to another at the supervisor's request and perform other assignments.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of Database software.
  • Knowledge of Internet software.
  • Knowledge of Spreadsheet software.
  • Knowledge of Word Processing software.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three months related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
