The Secretary, Cardiac Rehab position requires an individual to be courteous to patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and other employees. This role involves greeting patients and visitors, managing appointment calls, and acting as a liaison for physician offices. The secretary will receive referrals for therapy services, register outpatients via computer, and ensure the validity of physician orders and requisitions for medical necessity. Responsibilities include obtaining prior approvals and pre-certifications from third-party payers, confirming initial appointments, and distributing daily schedules. The role also involves updating knowledge of third-party payer regulations, assisting therapy staff with re-certification, and maintaining patient charts. Additionally, the secretary will schedule multiple facilities, procedures, services, and staff, assist with departmental statistics and quality assurance, and prepare reports for regulatory agencies. The position requires understanding and using correct procedures for all age groups and ordering supplies. The secretary provides clerical and telephone support for the department and must wear a facility-provided identification badge.
