About The Position

The secondary operator is responsible for operating one or more machine tools, special purpose machines, or industrial machines to machine metal workpieces to specifications on a production basis. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to perform manual tasks to ensure the quality and conformance of machined parts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 3 months of experience or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must pass appropriate testing to advance in the ABC program.
  • English language including vocabulary and basic workplace communication.
  • Mechanical tools and functions relevant to machine operations.
  • Production processes, quality checks, and part finishing techniques.
  • Workplace safety procedures and reporting standards.
  • Listening and following directions.
  • Inspecting parts for defects.
  • Working collaboratively with team members.
  • Handling materials safely and efficiently.
  • Reading and understanding job instructions.
  • Managing time to meet production goals.
  • Adjust to changes in work pace or tools.
  • Use steady hand movements and fine motor skills.
  • Perform physical tasks like bending and reaching.
  • Operate machinery with limb coordination.
  • Notice issues and report promptly.
  • Comprehend and apply written and spoken information.

Responsibilities

  • Lift and secure workpieces or load automatic feeding devices.
  • Start machine, engage feed, and observe operation.
  • Hand sort and rework parts.
  • Inspect and measure workpieces to verify conformance.
  • Adjust machine settings and controls.
  • Replace worn accessories (tools, brushes, etc.).
  • Deburr and finish parts using files/sanders.
  • Activate machines via buttons/sensors.
  • Clean machined parts.
  • Machine plastics and other nonmetals.
  • Operate machines and equipment beyond traditional tools.
  • Use blueprints for specification checks.
  • Uphold Positronic’s standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator.
  • Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
  • Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
