About The Position

This role is a floater position that supports various secondary operations including Assembly, Passivation, Shipping & Inventory, and Metal Finishing. The individual will be responsible for ensuring accuracy, adherence to specifications, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with a technical college degree being strongly preferred. Knowledge of the medical device manufacturing industry, FDA and ISO 13485 regulations, and experience with various metals are highly valued.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the medical device manufacturing industry
  • General understanding of acid/base chemistry for the process of neutralizing wastewater.
  • Understanding the importance of chemical safety and proper treatment of hazardous wastes & wastewater.
  • Experience with various metals: stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.
  • Clean driving record is required with valid insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Plans assembly procedures, following specifications.
  • Removes small quantities of metal to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts.
  • Drills, taps, or reams holes.
  • Aligns components, and bolts, screws, or rivets them together.
  • Straightens parts.
  • Installs moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and works them to test free movement.
  • Assembles product to print designations.
  • Bends and aligns to assemble product.
  • Tests or assists in testing operation of completed product.
  • Uses calipers and other measuring devices to ensure accuracy and parts adhere to print specs.
  • Cleans parts using alcohol.
  • Places metals in passivation/cleaning line manually.
  • Loads/unloads parts in baskets and cleaning tanks.
  • Performs routine maintenance including emptying, cleaning, and refilling tanks as necessary per company procedures and requirements.
  • Verifies temperature and pH parameters, and sets timer(s), moving product to next tanks in the process.
  • Dries parts with compressed air and towels.
  • Removes treated parts after specified time to next process or appropriate location.
  • Maintains pH levels in tanks. Cleans tanks and replaces solutions as required.
  • Properly tracks and disposes of waste chemicals following procedures.
  • Monitors and logs all stages of process to be in compliance with OSHA, FDA medical device and ISO 13485 regulated guidelines.
  • Responsible for ultrasonically cleaning and counting production parts.
  • Visually inspects cleaned parts to ensure cleaning process was effective, leaving no stains, creating a uniform luster, and no damage (cracks) caused by ultrasonic cleaning and other stages of the passivation process.
  • Electropolishes parts per required documentation (Kenosha facility).
  • Completes documents as required using good documentation practices.
  • Advises management of issues surrounding performance and condition of equipment and product passivated.
  • Performs wipe passivation process to ensure the laser marked product does not rust.
  • Follows daily production schedules and issues materials to various departments accordingly.
  • Responsible for daily production re-stock.
  • Responsible for creating accurate documentation packets for all the inventory parts.
  • Serves as a back-up in the secondary departments, including but not limited to: passivation, finishing, laser, shipping & receiving.
  • Conducts weekly cycle counts entering data into the ERP system (Epicor).
  • Notifies management of shortages or other issues that could impact product availability.
  • Cleans, deburrs, polishes, grinds items of multiple grades of metal or plastic.
  • Polishes and buffs stainless steel articles such as handles, rods medical equipment.
  • Glass beading and lite-deburring or polishes parts.
  • Applies abrasive compound, wax, or other dressing to facilitate cleaning or polishing.
  • Moves buffing brush over surfaces of work piece to remove fine scratches and to achieve specified finish.
  • Accurate and timely data entry into the ERP system (EPICOR).
  • Keeps the work area clean, safe and organized.
  • Follows safety requirements, wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, aprons, gloves, and shoes.
  • Reliable, timely and consistent attendance.
  • Performs driving duties for the company in a safe manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
