About The Position

Dowagiac Union Schools is seeking a Secondary Math Teacher for their Adult Education program. This position involves working with adult students to help them achieve their educational and career goals. The teacher will serve as an instructor for individualized learning programs, providing guidance, encouragement, and evaluation of academic progress. Responsibilities include utilizing appropriate instructional methods, technology, and materials for Adult Basic Education, secondary mathematics, high school completion/GED preparation, and online curriculum. The role also requires assessing student needs, providing differentiated instruction, maintaining accurate records, and encouraging student engagement and persistence.

Requirements

Appropriate Michigan Certification
Bachelors Degree Required
Minimum of one year teaching experience

Nice To Haves

Experience teaching adults preferred
Ability to work effectively with students of varying academic levels and educational backgrounds

Responsibilities

Works with individual students to lead them to the achievement of their specific educational and career goals
Serve as a resource and instructor for students participating in individualized learning programs.
Meet regularly with assigned participants to provide instruction, guidance, encouragement, and evaluation of academic progress.
Utilize instructional methods, technology, and materials appropriate for Adult Basic Education, secondary mathematics, high school completion/GED preparation, and online curriculum.
Assess student needs and provide differentiated instruction to address individual learning levels and goals.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, assessments, and other required program documentation.
Encourage student engagement, persistence, and successful completion of program requirements.
Collaborate with Adult Education staff to support student success and overall program goals.
Assist the Director with monitoring and implementation of Adult Education program components, as needed.
Maintain and continually improve professional knowledge and competency.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
