About The Position

Georgia Piedmont Technical College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Adult Education Teacher to deliver high-quality instruction to adult learners. This role focuses on improving foundational academic skills, preparing students for GED/HiSET exams, and supporting their transition to college or career pathways.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Georgia teaching certification or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
  • Minimum of two years of experience teaching adult learners, preferably in a post-secondary or adult education setting.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and staff.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and continuous improvement.
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree from a college or university.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and deliver engaging and effective lessons across various subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, and social studies, tailored to adult learners' needs and learning styles.
  • Assess student academic levels and progress using appropriate diagnostic tools and formative/summative assessments.
  • Develop individualized learning plans and provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with varying educational backgrounds and goals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including attendance, progress, and performance data, in accordance with college and state guidelines.
  • Collaborate with support staff, counselors, and other faculty members to provide comprehensive support services to students.
  • Stay current with best practices in adult education, instructional technology, and curriculum development.
  • Participate in professional development activities, faculty meetings, and other college initiatives as required.
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and success.
  • Assist students with goal setting, career exploration, and post-secondary planning.
