About The Position
The Secondary Market Specialist supports the sale and delivery of residential mortgage loans to investors. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate loan delivery, funding, reconciliation, reporting, servicing transfer activities, and compliance with investor and internal requirements. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in mortgage operations.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in banking, mortgage lending, loan operations, financial services, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret investor requirements and apply procedures accurately and consistently.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Review mortgage loan files for completeness and investor readiness.
- Deliver mortgage loans and required documentation to investors within established deadlines.
- Maintain accurate loan sale records in internal and investor systems.
- Provide lock desk support, including processing lock requests, extensions, relocks, and changes.
- Coordinate with underwriting, closing, servicing, and finance teams to resolve funding and delivery issues.
- Process loan funding activities and related accounting entries.
- Reconcile loan sale activity and support monthly financial reporting.
- Complete servicing-released and servicing-transfer requirements, including required borrower and insurance notifications.
- Research and resolve discrepancies related to loan sales, investor purchases, and documentation.
- Support investor reviews, audits, quality control reviews, and compliance testing.
- Maintain departmental procedures, documentation, and workflow guides.
- Assist with system testing, reporting validation, and process improvements.
